The All Progressives Congress in Kano State has renewed its readiness to welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf into the party, amid growing speculation over his anticipated defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party.
The APC State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, made the position known in a statement issued in Kano on Tuesday, describing the expected move as one driven by the need for unity, reconciliation, and the broader interest of Kano State.
According to Abbas, the invitation extended to Governor Yusuf was made on behalf of the party’s national leader and former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He said the gesture was intended to promote political harmony and fast-track development across the state.
The APC chairman noted that the party believes cooperation among key political stakeholders is essential for building a stable, united, and prosperous Kano, especially at a time when collective action is required to address governance and development challenges.

He said the APC was prepared to receive Governor Yusuf warmly, stressing that the party is open to working with all leaders committed to the progress of the state. Abbas added that politics should be a tool for service delivery and development, not a source of division among the people.
Abbas further stated that once Governor Yusuf formally joins the APC, he would be received alongside other NNPP leaders who may choose to defect with him. He said they would be welcomed under the leadership of Dr Ganduje in an atmosphere of mutual respect, understanding, and shared responsibility.
Expressing optimism about the potential political realignment, the APC chairman said such a move would strengthen the party’s structure in Kano State and improve collaboration among political leaders, with positive effects on governance and socio-economic development.
The statement has added momentum to ongoing political discussions in Kano, as attention remains focused on Governor Yusuf’s next move and its possible impact on the state’s political landscape.
