The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested nine youths for allegedly engaging in prostitution, locally referred to as “Good Evening Girls,” during an end-of-year operation across major streets in the metropolis.
Deputy Commander-General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, disclosed this in a statement made available to Journalists on Saturday.
Aminuddeen said the suspects—eight females and one male, aged between 15 and 20—were apprehended on Friday night in targeted raids on suspected hotspots.
“During our end-of-the-year special operation, our personnel stormed some major streets in the metropolis and arrested eight young girls and a boy posing as ‘Good Evening Girls,’” he said.

According to him, the suspects allegedly operate by being picked up by individuals who offer them money after spending time with them. He claimed the amounts range from ₦5,000 to ₦30,000.
He listed the areas covered in the operation to include Zoo Road, Banana Zoo Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Lamido Crescent, Tukur Road, Lodge Road, Nassarawa Hospital Road, Magajin Rumfa Road, Sultan Road, and Audu Bako Way.
Aminuddeen added that preliminary questioning showed the suspects admitted to being involved in the act for some time, noting that investigations were ongoing.
“We will continue to raid areas where such activities take place in order to enforce Shari’a law in Kano State,” he said, urging parents and guardians to pay closer attention to their children.
He said the Board would charge the suspects to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
