Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has expressed concern over a fatal motor accident that claimed the lives of seven members of the Lawanti community in Akko Local Government Area.
The victims were reportedly traveling to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred.
Those who lost their lives were identified as Gambo Abbo (35), Umalkhairi (18), Rabiu Abubakar (28), Fatuma Hassan (28), Amal Abubakar (3), Adamu Bello (4) and Zarau Alhaji (27).
In a condolence message, signed by Ismaila Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House, Gombe, Gov. Yahaya described the incident as a painful and devastating loss, not only to the bereaved families but also to the Lawanti community, Akko Local Governmwnt Area, and Gombe State as a whole.

He said the untimely deaths had deeply affected the state, noting that no words could adequately console families who lost loved ones under such tragic circumstances.
The governor commiserated with the families of the deceased, including the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida, who lost his sister and niece; Idris Lawanti Maigari, who lost his daughter; and Idris Isah Lawanti, the councillor representing Akko Ward, who also lost close relatives.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grants the bereaved families, relatives and the entire Lawanti community the strength and patience to bear the loss, and asked Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept their good deeds and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus.
