Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has urged the federal government to promptly cease all military collaboration with the United States , following US airstrikes against terror groups in Nigeria.
Gumi cautioned that American involvement could exacerbate Nigeria’s security issues and threaten national sovereignty.
The Islamic cleric has increasingly expressed his discontent with media criticism of attacks on bandits since the US designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), advocating for an alternative approach to address the situation.

The cleric has faced significant backlash from Nigerians for his remarks that seem to advocate leniency towards terrorists.
He argues that engaging in dialogue with these groups is preferable to launching violent assaults against them.
As kidnappings and killings rise, particularly in the north, Gumi continues to assert that dialogue should be prioritized over violence against the perpetrators.
His views have led many to suspect that he may be indirectly supporting a terrorism agenda.
