The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has applauded the decision of National Assembly members from the state who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor while welcoming the defectors, described their decision as “courageous, principled, and forward looking”, adding that the move represents a “bold demonstration of commitment to the collective progress of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole.”
Those who defected include Sen. Allwell Onyesoh (Rivers East) and Sen. Barinada Mpigi (Rivers South-East), as well as Rep. Dumnamene Dekor, Rep. Solomon Bob, Rep. Cyril Hart, Rep. Victor Obuzor, Rep. Blessing Amadi, and Rep. Felix Nwaeke.
The governor also commended them for aligning with earlier defectors who had already taken similar steps in support of his administration and the APC.
These include Rep. Boniface Emerengwa, Rep. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, Rep. Boma Goodhead, who joined the APC from PDP and Rep. Umezuruike Manuchim, who joined the APC from the Labour Party in solidarity with the governor.
Gov. Fubara emphasised that the lawmakers’ decision goes beyond mere political realignment, describing it as a strong validation of his own earlier decision to join the APC.
