Immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, Kingsley Otuaro, has urged political leaders across the country to embrace responsibility, integrity and people-centred governance as Nigerians celebrate Christmas and prepare for the New Year.
In a goodwill message to Deltans and Nigerians, Otuaro described Christmas as a season that embodies love, humility, sacrifice and hope, noting that these values should guide leadership decisions at all levels of government.
He observed that the outgoing year was marked by economic pressures, insecurity and uncertainty, stressing that such challenges demand leaders who are committed to fairness, peace and inclusive development.
Quoting the Holy Scriptures in Luke 2:14 — “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men” — Otuaro said the message of Christmas underscores the need for unity, compassion and goodwill in both private and public life.
The former deputy governor commended Nigerians for their resilience in the face of adversity, describing their perseverance as the nation’s greatest strength.

Addressing the people of Delta State, Otuaro noted that the state is richly endowed with human and natural resources but requires unity of purpose and responsible leadership to fully harness its potential for the benefit of all, irrespective of political, ethnic or religious differences.
He called on citizens to remain peaceful and committed to civic responsibility, while urging leaders to place the welfare of the people above all else and pursue policies that promote security, equity and economic opportunity.
Otuaro also encouraged youths not to lose hope, saying their energy, creativity and determination are vital to Nigeria’s future and should be positively channelled towards nation-building and leadership with character.
Expressing optimism for the coming year, he prayed that the New Year would usher in renewed hope, improved security, economic recovery and greater unity for Delta State and Nigeria as a whole.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous, purposeful New Year, while praying for God’s blessings on Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
