Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited has taken its Christmas goodwill and healthcare outreach to host communities of the Trans Niger Pipeline in Imo State, reinforcing its commitment to community development and pipeline security.
The intervention, carried out under the company’s Food Bank programme, covered 24 communities in Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta Local Government Areas, where residents received food items and free medical services as part of PINL’s corporate social responsibility activities.
Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager for Community Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, said the initiative was designed to appreciate the host communities for their sustained cooperation in safeguarding the Trans Niger Pipeline, a critical national asset that passes through their areas.
Dr. Mezeh noted that the company values its relationship with the communities and remains committed to strengthening trust and collaboration. He called for continued support to ensure zero infractions on the pipeline in the year ahead, stressing that community cooperation remains central to the success of PINL’s operations.

He described the outreach as a gesture of gratitude, commending community members for what he called their commendable role in protecting oil and gas infrastructure. According to him, the company is optimistic that stronger partnerships will translate into greater benefits for host communities in 2026, while urging youths to sustain their cooperation with PINL.
On the medical component of the programme, Dr. Mezeh disclosed that over 1,000 residents had already benefitted from free healthcare services, adding that more beneficiaries were expected as the outreach continued.
Receiving the palliatives on behalf of the communities, the Eze-Obi of Egbema, Barrister Goodhead Ariaga, praised PINL for identifying with the people during the festive season and taking the initiative directly to their communities.
The traditional ruler assured the company of continued partnership in securing the Trans Niger Pipeline, describing the safety of oil infrastructure as vital to Nigeria’s economy. He said the communities understand the importance of uninterrupted pipeline operations and would continue to support PINL’s work.
Barrister Ariaga also urged other companies operating in the region to adopt similar community-focused initiatives, noting that such efforts could help reduce youth restiveness and improve relations between host communities and corporate organisations.
Food items distributed during the exercise included bags of rice, garri, beans, noodles, cooking oil and other essential supplies, bringing relief to families across the benefiting communities during the Christmas season.
