President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will defeat terrorism and banditry, saying security forces are intensifying operations to restore peace and stability across the country.

The President gave the assurance during a meeting with leaders of the Ogbia community in Bayelsa State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Acknowledging the scale of the nation’s security challenges, Tinubu said the Federal Government remains resolute, with troops actively engaged in dismantling criminal networks.

“Our security forces are working tirelessly. Arrests are being made, criminal networks are being broken, and our armed forces are committed to achieving lasting peace,” he said.

Beyond security, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta, noting that the oil-producing region would no longer be neglected.

He commended the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), particularly its Managing Director, Samuel Ogbuku, describing ongoing efforts as a step in the right direction.

Tinubu acknowledged that past administrations fell short in addressing the region’s developmental needs but said his government was focused on inclusive progress through sustained engagement and investment.

He cited projects such as solar street lighting, which he said are already improving living conditions and boosting economic activities in some communities.

The President also pledged to address environmental challenges, including erosion, and to consider key infrastructure requests from the area, such as the construction of a bridge to enhance connectivity and economic growth.

Tinubu further praised former President Goodluck Jonathan, an indigene of Ogbia, describing him as a statesman who continues to serve the country with dignity.

On the economy, the President said Nigeria has moved beyond its most difficult phase, assuring citizens that his administration’s reforms would soon translate into tangible benefits for ordinary Nigerians.

Responding on behalf of the delegation, leaders of the Ogbia community expressed political support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They thanked the President for appointing Ogbuku as NDDC Managing Director and formally invited him to visit the community.
