A conflict index has classified Nigeria 5th, as facing ‘extreme’ levels of violence due to widespread attacks throughout the country.

This classification places Nigeria in the ‘extreme’ violence category of the index, alongside other conflict-affected regions such as Palestine, Myanmar, Syria, and Mexico.

The new conflict index indicates that Nigeria is now the fifth most violent country in the world, as documented by the Friday’s latest Global Conflict Index from the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED).

This alarming ranking follows a series of ongoing attacks in Nigeria, characterized by a high incidence of kidnappings, killings, and various forms of violence.

The latest ranking comes after Donald Trump reinstated Nigeria on the current CPC list, a decision that has sparked significant reactions both within and outside the country.

In Kebbi State, at least 25 girls were kidnapped on November 17 from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga town.

Another devastating incident involved bandits attacking a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in the Eruku community of Kwara State, resulting in the deaths of three worshippers and the abduction of the pastor and several others.

These and numerous other attacks have raised concerns among local and international organizations, as well as individuals and powerful governments around the world.
