Police enforce 24-hour curfew in Lamurde LG over communal clash

The Adamawa State Police Command is enforcing a 24-hour curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state, following a fresh outbreak of communal violence in the area.

A statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Commissioner, Dankombo Morris, said the deployment of additional operational manpower and assets was aimed at ensuring strict compliance with the curfew aimed at restoring peace to the affected communities.

The command urged residents of Lamurde Local Government Area to remain indoors and to fully cooperate with security agencies to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

“Members of the public, particularly those within Lamurde Local Government Area, are advised to respect the curfew and stay indoors.

“The police, in collaboration with sister security agencies, will enforce the order using all legal means while ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights,” the statement added.

Morris warned that miscreants and misguided individuals would not be allowed to disrupt the peace in the area.

He assured that security agents would operate responsibly, avoiding unnecessary use of force that could lead to loss of lives.

The police boss reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while maintaining law and order in the local government.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as the curfew remains in effect until further notice.
