A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party has made a move to distance itself from several prominent political figures after describing their recent activities as an embarrassing misrepresentation of the party. The party released a formal notice stating that a group of individuals, once associated with its structure, have been falsely presenting themselves as PDP members and leaders.

The statement, signed by the factional National Secretary, Sen Samuel N Anyanwu, listed Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, Seyi Makinde, Emmanuel Udom, Adolphus Wabara, Taofeek Arapaja, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Ben N Obi, Bode George, Okechukwu Obiechina, Emmanuel Ogiad, Emmanuel Ebidem, Suleiman Kadade Mohammed, Sumaita Adam Bunza, Koshoedo Setonji, Daniel Woyengikuro, Umar Iliya Damagun and Umar Sani.

According to the party, these individuals were expelled on November 18, 2025, following a decision of the National Executive Committee. The notice cited offences relating to anti party conduct and gross misconduct.

The party advised the public and its supporters to avoid any engagement that grants authority or recognition to the affected persons. It added that anyone who continues to align with them does so at personal risk.

The party also advised Nigerians to disregard the gathering held in Ibadan, describing it as an informal assembly that lacked the legal standing of a national convention. The leadership stated that the PDP has not conducted any national convention, and warned that anyone claiming to be a newly elected national officer is an impostor.

The party concluded that order will be maintained in line with its constitution and that the public should rely only on information issued by its authorised organs.
