Nigerian artist Burna Boy has vowed to pay for the funeral expenses of the four children who lost their lives in a recent mass shooting in California.
The singer of ‘Last Last’ expressed a deep emotional connection to the tragedy after learning about it on The Breakfast Club radio show.
He reached out to music executive Wack 100 and Jason Lee from Hollywood Unlocked to offer his assistance.
“My heart broke when I heard about the children killed in Stockton. After listening to the story on The Breakfast Club, I contacted Wack 100 and connected with Jason Lee because no family should endure this kind of suffering alone,” he stated in a press release.
“I wanted to do whatever I could to support these parents as they begin their long journey of healing.”
The statement also highlighted that the 34-year-old artist was particularly touched by the story of Amari Peterson, a 14-year-old student-athlete with a 3.8 GPA whose life was tragically cut short.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee remarked that “Burna Boy’s generosity exemplifies how people around the world wish to help, even if they have never met the affected families.”

The shooting took place on Saturday, November 29, inside a packed banquet hall in northern Stockton just before 6 p.m., where 100 to 150 attendees were celebrating a children’s birthday party.
Four young individuals were killed, and 11 others were injured.
The identified victims include eight-year-old Maya Lupian and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta.
Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, indicated that early evidence suggests the shooting may have been “a targeted incident.”
She added that the investigation is “very active and ongoing.”
Sheriff Patrick Withrow stated on Sunday that “we’re confident that this was not a random act. We won’t determine whether it’s gang-related until we have all the facts.”
A reward of $25,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest.
