The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as David Effiong, for allegedly causing public disturbance while appearing in full masquerade attire in defiance of the state government’s prohibition on such displays.
Effiong was detained on Tuesday after residents alerted security operatives to a masquerader reportedly destroying property and creating unrest within the community.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police, Baba Azare, said the suspect remains in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
