Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has expressed full support for President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a national emergency on security, calling on residents of the state to remain calm as government intensifies efforts to confront emerging threats across parts of the state.
The governor made the remarks on Thursday at the commencement of the 34th meeting of the Kano State Executive Council held at the Government House, Kano.
Gov. Yusuf said the state government was firmly committed to the security of the lives and property of its citizens and was working closely with all security agencies to neutralise criminal activities, particularly in the northern local government areas where banditry and kidnapping have recently escalated.
“As you are aware, the unfortunate influx of bandits, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers into some of our local government areas, especially in the northern part of the state — in Shanono, Bagwai, Tsanyanwa, Ghari, Gwarzo, Dambatta, Sumaila, Tudun Wada, Doguwa, and Rogo — is of serious concern.
“Despite isolated challenges, citizens should remain calm and be rest assured that government is fully under arms and determined to neutralise all threats to peace and order,” he said.

“I wish to congratulate Mr. President on the bold decision he took for the betterment of all Nigerians.
“We express the full cooperation of the Government of Kano State on this noble decision, and we assure that all security agencies in the state will offer full support for the success of this very important declaration,” he stated.
