Nigeria is shifting away from costly, polluting fuels toward abundant, eco-friendly natural gas as a key pillar of the Federal Government’s sustainable transport vision under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has said.
Speaking at the 2nd Annual Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conference and World Sustainable Transport Day commemoration at the National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja, Mahmoud described the move to CNG not just as a technical upgrade, but as a strategic investment vital for national survival and economic transformation.
“The FCT Administration is committed to expanding refuelling infrastructure and enacting policies that encourage alternative fuels while discouraging high-emission transport practices,” she said, highlighting Abuja’s re-engineered transport system as a model of efficiency, sustainability, and convenience.
