Nigeria’s entertainment community has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular content creator and actor Odira Nwobu has died in South Africa. The news surfaced on Monday when blogger Awuzie Frankline shared a video on Facebook showing the entertainer lying motionless, a post that quickly spread across social media.
Frankline did not give details about the circumstances of the reported death, but his posts suggested that Nwobu passed away only hours after a night out at a club over the weekend. His emotional reactions captured the shock felt by fans and colleagues. In one post, he cried out, asking why Nwobu had left so suddenly. In another, he recalled how the actor had been full of life earlier that same day and had celebrated a thanksgiving service only months earlier.
Meanwhile video and pictures have emerged of how the Untouchable and another South African content creator were seen with the deceased in a park while embarking in a scary game. The deceased was complaining that he was scared of the game.

Other entertainers have also expressed disbelief. Comedian Evan Okoro shared Nwobu’s photo, saying she could not accept the news. The actor’s recent history added to the pain, as he had survived a severe car accident only months ago, a moment that drew public attention after a video of the crash scene went viral.
As of the time of this report, Nwobu’s family has not issued an official statement. Many fans continue to hope for clarification while others mourn a rising performer whose work brought joy to audiences across Nigeria.
