Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, yesterday said party leaders and stakeholders from Kano North have resolved to endorse President Bola Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

Ganduje made the disclosure at his residence in Kano, while briefing journalists at the end of a three-day consultative meeting with party executives, caucus members and influential stakeholders from the Kano North Senatorial District.

The meeting was attended by former APC governorship candidate, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna; his running mate, Murtala Sule Garo; House of Representatives members Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, Abba Kabir Bichi; former lawmakers Kabiru Gaya and Baffa Babba Danagundi; and state Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas, among others.

However, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Yusuf Ata (Kano central) and Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin from Kano North were absent.

Ganduje said the engagement focused on strengthening party cohesion and firming up preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.

“As we move towards 2027, there is need to ensure complete unity in our party — unity from top to bottom. Our delegates have shown commitment to winning elections across all levels,” he said.

He stated that leaders from the zone sought approval to return to their localities and make a formal public declaration adopting Tinubu as the party’s consensus presidential candidate.

“We have resolved that all local governments in Kano State will convene stakeholders’ meetings and make official pronouncements endorsing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027,” he added.

Ganduje also directed the reactivation of all APC offices across the 44 local government areas and 484 wards, saying a strengthened grassroots structure remained essential to the party’s success.

He announced plans to begin fresh electronic registration of party members, with each local government to nominate ICT-proficient officials for training.

He expressed confidence that Kano would again record the highest number of registered members nationwide.

The former governor further urged youths who recently turned 18 to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

Ganduje commended party faithful for their renewed commitment, assuring that the APC in Kano would approach the 2027 elections more united, organised and prepared.

Meanwhile, the reasons for Barau and Ata’s absence still remain unknown as at the time of filing this report.
