The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has placed new pressure on troops in Kebbi State to recover the students taken from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area. He delivered the order during an operational tour of the area on Monday. This was contained in a statement issued by Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer, Operation Fansan Yamma.
Gen Shaibu told frontline commanders that the search must be driven by reliable intelligence and carried out without pause. He urged units under Operation Fansan Yanma to maintain steady pressure on the abductors and to treat the rescue as an urgent national duty. He said the children must be found and that every credible lead should be pursued with discipline and precision.
He also met local vigilantes and hunters who have been supporting the search. He described them as essential partners and encouraged closer coordination with the troops, noting that their familiarity with the terrain could help narrow escape routes and expose hideouts. He stressed that the joint effort would help restore calm and protect the right of children to attend school without fear.

Before leaving the area, the Army Chief visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the school’s principal, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He assured them that the military would not relent until the students return safely.
Gen Shaibu called on the troops to stay focused, maintain professional conduct, and uphold the rules of engagement while pushing to stabilise Kebbi State and neighbouring communities.
