The Isoko Development Union (IDU), Asaba branch, has elected a new executive council to pilot its affairs, following the dissolution of the Karo Gabriel Ovemeso–led administration which completed its two-term tenure.
The election was held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Hotel, off DLA Road, Asaba.
Declaring the process open, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Ekrebe Samuel, outlined the modalities for the exercise, stating that only four delegates were permitted per clan or community.
He added that any clan or community owing quarterly dues would neither submit delegates nor present candidates for screening and voting.
Following accreditation, 40 delegates were cleared to vote, while 10 aspirants were screened. Members of the outgoing executive participated as observers.
At the end of the contest, Mr. Elisha Ikolomi from Igbide, Isoko South, emerged as president unopposed.
Ighoverio Okeoghene of Oyede, Isoko North, won the position of vice president with 24 votes out of the 50 votes accredited.

Comrade Agari Solomon from Owhelogbo, Isoko North, was elected secretary after polling 35 votes, while Comrade Nathaniel Umukoro of Araya, Isoko South, emerged treasurer unopposed.
Also elected unopposed were Comrade Alagba Oghogho Blessing as public relations officer, Prince Uzobo as financial secretary, and Eriega Ofejiro as welfare/social secretary.
In his acceptance speech, the new President, Mr. Ikolomi Elisha, thanked members for their support and pledged to provide quality leadership, effective representation, and uphold equity, fairness, justice, and accountability.
He urged Isoko sons and daughters in Asaba to remain committed and attend meetings regularly.
The date for the inauguration of the newly elected executive will be announced by the union in due course.
