Fresh details point to a heightened security presence along Gado Nasko Road in Kubwa after Lieutenant A. M. Yerima was reportedly trailed by unidentified men on Sunday. Residents observed an unusual movement of troops as a convoy of eight military patrol vehicles moved through the area around 7 p.m., sparking speculation about a potential threat to the officer.
Witnesses said the situation began an hour earlier when two unmarked white Hilux vans, occupied by men dressed in black, allegedly followed the officer from the NIPCO Station near the Kubwa Expressway to the Gado Nasko corridor. The account led to an immediate security sweep by military personnel who were seen combing the neighbourhood in what appeared to be a protective response.

Despite the growing public interest, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has insisted that no such incident was reported. The Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the police had neither received a complaint nor recorded any attempt on the officer’s life. She warned residents against spreading unverified claims, noting that such stories often cause needless fear in the city.
Adeh encouraged members of the public to stay alert and share credible information with the police when necessary. She also reminded residents of the emergency lines available for quick contact with security agencies.
Military sources, however, maintained that the account involving the two Hilux vans is being reviewed. They confirmed that the incident remains under investigation, which keeps the community on edge as questions about what transpired on Sunday continue to grow.
