Senator Ned Nwoko has opened up on the growing domestic crisis involving his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, and members of her family. The Delta-born lawmaker said his wife’s brother, Sammy, has repeatedly invaded his home, harassed his children and staff, and sabotaged Regina’s medical rehabilitation from drug addiction.

Key Highlights:
Nwoko accuses Sammy, Destiny, and others of supplying Regina with drugs during rehabilitation.

He says he sponsored Sammy’s education, accommodation, and music career.

Nwoko alleges Regina’s erratic behavior was due to substance abuse.

Viral video of alleged assault, he claims, was staged at his house in his absence.

Senator insists he neither drinks nor smokes, calling the incidents “deeply painful.”

According to the senator, “These videos show Sammy, Regina’s brother, repeatedly coming to my home and harassing my children and domestic staff, especially whenever I was not around. His visits were often aggressive and disruptive.”

Nwoko said his relationship with the Daniels family had once been cordial. He claimed to have sponsored Sammy through his final years at the University of Ekpoma, purchased musical instruments for him, and even rented and furnished an apartment in Abuja. “I also routinely provided allowances to all members of the family, including her mother, Rita Daniel. Indeed, in the last two years, I have a record of transferring ₦125 million to her alone,” he said.

The senator explained that Regina’s doctors had advised strict restrictions during her therapy, after he noticed disturbing changes in her behavior linked to drug use. “She would go for 48 hours without sleeping, and eat every two hours,” he recalled. “Unfortunately, Sammy, Destiny, and others constantly defied those medical instructions by sneaking in drugs and enabling her addiction.”

He further alleged that Sammy and his brother Lawrence were among those who first introduced Regina to the drugs. “They were deeply involved in the habit themselves, and rather than helping her get better, they kept drawing her back into the same destructive lifestyle,” he said, adding that he personally avoids intoxicants and is a vegetarian.

Nwoko recounted several confrontations, including one incident where Regina’s behavior turned violent after she invited Sammy’s girlfriend into the house. “When I asked my driver to drop the girl off, Sammy stormed into my home at 5 a.m., shouting and demanding that I face him,” he said. “He threatened me and had to be escorted out by security.”

The senator accused Regina and her friends of repeatedly leaving home at night despite medical restrictions. “On one occasion, she returned around 9 a.m. after spending the night at a nightclub. When I questioned her, she said, ‘You are not my father, so don’t ask me where I was.’ That was how bad it got,” he lamented.

He said one of Regina’s associates, identified as Cassie, acted as the group’s “chemist and supplier,” undermining every effort toward recovery. “With her around, therapy became a joke,” he added.

Addressing the viral video that circulated online showing Regina and her siblings confronting his staff, Nwoko insisted it was staged in front of his Asaba residence while he was away. “Nobody was beaten. It is false to claim I sent thugs to assault Regina. That entire video was orchestrated and filmed in front of my house by her sister and her friend. It was a pure Nollywood scenario,” he said.

The senator also disclosed that he once sponsored Regina’s brother Lawrence to study in London with $70,000 for tuition and upkeep. He said he offered Sammy a similar opportunity, but Sammy declined. “He has since been arrested several times by both the police and EFCC. His behavior has become increasingly violent and unstable,” Nwoko stated.

He called on Sammy to “build a life of his own outside of Regina” and seek rehabilitation. “What he needs now is total professional guidance; otherwise, his aggression and self-destructive tendencies will only worsen,” he warned.

The lawmaker described the entire experience as “emotionally draining,” saying he endured it for the sake of his children. “Imagine the pain of a husband trying to help his wife recover, only to have the process sabotaged by her siblings and friends,” he said.
