Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Renewed Hope Housing Estate at Ekpene Ukim in Uruan Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to housing accessibility in the State.
Speaking at the event, Governor Eno described the project as a symbol of effective inter-governmental collaboration between the state and the Federal Government. He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) for selecting Akwa Ibom as the first state to host the Renewed Hope Estate initiative.
“This event demonstrates our shared resolve to provide affordable housing for our people. We thank the Federal Housing Authority for choosing Akwa Ibom, and I am deeply grateful to President Tinubu for approving this project across the country,” the Governor stated.
He assured the project managers of full state government support, including the construction of access roads and the provision of adequate security, to ensure the project’s smooth and timely completion.
Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Housing Authority, Hon. Oyetunde Oladimeji Ojo, expressed delight at the commencement of the Renewed Hope Estate in Akwa Ibom. He noted that the state’s renowned hospitality influenced the choice of Uyo as the launch point for the national housing project.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong, commended both Governor Eno and President Tinubu for bringing the project to the area, assuring that the council would provide necessary security and support for its successful implementation.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Commissioning Committee and Executive Director, Estate Services of the FHA, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok, lauded Governor Eno’s commitment to collaboration and his dedication to fulfilling promises made to the people.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Board Chairman of Ibom Mortgage Bank and the Managing Director of FMHA Mortgage Bank Ltd, who both praised President Tinubu and Governor Eno for their joint efforts to expand access to affordable housing in Nigeria.
They prayed for divine wisdom and continued success for both leaders as they work to enhance citizens’ welfare through sustainable housing initiatives.
