The Member representing Isoko North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. (Engr.) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering clean and sustainable water to communities across Isoko Nation as he inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Otor-Owhe Water Reticulation System, one of the 2025 Federal Capital Projects.
During the inspection tour on Thursday, Rep. Ukodhiko expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work done, commending the contractors and the Otor-Owhe community for their cooperation and support.
“This water project is very dear to my heart,” Ukodhiko said. “Before the end of my tenure, all the Owhe communities originally covered under the Otor-Owhe Water Board will be reconnected. This facility once supplied water to the entire Owhe clan, including my own community, Erawha, and even Emevor.”
The lawmaker further disclosed that plans were underway to reactivate the long-abandoned reservoir in Ozoro to ensure surrounding communities have access to potable water. He explained that reservoir water offers better quality and accessibility than boreholes, particularly for rural households that cannot afford private water systems.
The Otor-Owhe Overhead Concrete Reservoir, which has a capacity of 270m³, was initially built by the Federal Government to serve several communities but became dormant due to poor power supply and high operating costs from diesel-powered generators.
Responding to appeals from residents, Rep. Ukodhiko facilitated the project’s rehabilitation under the 2025 national budget. The upgraded design features new boreholes, solar-powered submersible pumps, and the replacement of outdated asbestos cement pipes with safer, hydraulically modelled pipelines that meet modern engineering standards.

He praised the contractors and engineers for their professionalism and assured that the project would be completed on schedule and according to specification. “Our goal is to restore reliable water supply and improve the daily lives of our people,” he said.
Reaffirming his commitment to constituency development, the Isoko representative urged the Federal Government to ensure the full implementation of the 2025 Appropriation Act to accelerate the completion of critical projects that promote infrastructure, health, and economic growth in Isoko land.
In his remarks, the President-General of Otor-Owhe, Engr. Wilfred Atunu, thanked Rep. Ukodhiko for facilitating the project and for his continued support to the community. Residents, including women and youths, came out in large numbers, singing and dancing in appreciation of the federal lawmaker’s efforts to restore water to their community.
