Akintayo Ayinla, the new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), in Edo State, has warned scavengers who disguise themselves as scrap and metal collectors to commit crimes that Edo is no longer conducive for their nefarious activities. He reiterated the warning during a courtesy visit to Governor Monday Okpebholo.
In his first official visit to the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, the State NSCDC Commandant, Akintayo Ayinla, warned the scavengers who engage in criminal activities to desist from such or relocate from the state.
The Commandant, who was accompanied on the visit by Senior officers of the Corps, said his leadership will focus on strategic reforms, including regulating the activities of scavengers who often disguise themselves as scrap dealers to perpetuate crimes.
“It is no longer news that the activities of scavengers have given the people so much pains, as most of them hide under the act to carry out criminal activities.
“We are not going to allow that as our personnel will be deployed to ensure the nefarious acts are nipped in the bud,” he stated.
