Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has issued a stern warning to those plotting to manipulate the 2027 governorship election in the state, saying such individuals should prepare their wills before attempting to subvert the will of the people.
Speaking at the Government House, Umuahia, during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, the governor declared that only the will of God and the mandate freely given by Abians will decide who governs the state in 2027.
Reacting to comments credited to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in the next election, Governor Otti said he had no fear of political threats but warned against electoral malpractice.
“I have heard that some people are saying they will take over Abia by writing results. My advice to them is simple: if they truly want to write anything, they should first write their wills,” Otti said pointedly.
The governor’s remarks were contained in a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, and made available to journalists in Umuahia.

Otti, who described Hon. Kalu as “a friend and younger brother,” said he had forgiven him for his recent remarks against his administration but urged politicians to avoid actions capable of disrupting the peace and stability of the state.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, dismissing speculations that he plans to defect to the APC.
“The peace and decorum we have built in Abia must not be destroyed for political reasons,” he said, stressing that his administration remains focused on development, transparency, and good governance.
Governor Otti’s warning has since stirred reactions across Abia and beyond, with many residents praising his firm stance against electoral manipulation as the state begins to warm up for the 2027 polls.
