The Kano State Police Command has arrested nine suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of violent robberies across Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja.
Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Bompai, the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, disclosed that the suspects were arrested following a coordinated intelligence-led operation in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for all commands to intensify efforts against violent crime.
According to him, the arrests followed an armed robbery incident that occurred on October 8, 2025, at Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, Kano, where a gang of robbers attacked a residence at about 2 a.m.
He explained that the criminals stole a Toyota Yaris vehicle, cash totaling N3.7 million, mobile phones, and other valuables, after assaulting the victim’s wife and inflicting serious injuries on her
“Following a swift response from Dorayi Division and the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), one suspect was initially apprehended, leading to the arrest of eight others in coordinated raids across Kano and Kaduna States,” he stated

Those arrested are Abubakar Aminu (22), Aliyu Aliyu (23), Abubakar Usman (22), Sulaiman Sani (20), and Yusuf Yusuf (17).
Others include Abdulrahman Aliyu (23), Salisu Hussaini (17), Sulaiman Abdullahi (20), and Abdulmutallib Sa’ad (24).
Items recovered from the suspects include one double-barreled gun with 18 live cartridges, two pistols, an iron cutter, two cutlasses, four knives, three torchlights, and a red Toyota Corolla used in their operations.
Bakori said the suspects confessed to multiple robberies in the three states and would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.
While noting that the command’s ‘Operation Kukan Kura’ initiative has significantly reduced crime rates in Kano, particularly phone snatching and thuggery, the commissioner commended his officers for their professionalism and bravery and lauded the public for providing vital intelligence to the command.
