Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged the newly inaugurated executives of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to prioritize unity and focus on strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of upcoming elections.

Speaking on Thursday during a courtesy visit by the new PDP State Working Committee to the Government House in Yola, Governor Fintiri described the newly constituted leadership as “an assembly of men and women of character and integrity.” He emphasized the need for cohesion and a shared commitment to the party’s long-term success.

“We must work together to build a stronger, more viable PDP,” the Governor said. “Don’t rush into fielding candidates—it’s not time yet. When the time comes, the right candidates will emerge. What matters most is ensuring victory for the party. And if anyone chooses to leave, they should do so without resorting to blackmail.”

Governor Fintiri also directed the Secretary to the State Government to enforce the payment of party dues by all salary-earning members, stressing the importance of consistent financial contributions to sustain the party’s operations.

In his remarks, the newly elected PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, expressed appreciation to the Governor for overseeing what he described as a transparent and credible party congress. He also commended Fintiri’s achievements in key sectors such as education, infrastructure, security, and youth empowerment.

“Under your leadership, Adamawa has become a model of purposeful governance,” Madagali said, pledging the new executives’ loyalty and commitment to working in synergy with the state administration to meet the aspirations of the people.

The visit has no doubt signaled a renewed chapter for the PDP in Adamawa, as the party gears up to consolidate its base and prepare strategically for future electoral contests.
