The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, has restated Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to civic reorientation as a cornerstone for national development. He stressed that attitudinal change, value reawakening, and responsible citizenship are indispensable for achieving the country’s long-term aspirations.

Issa-Onilu delivered a keynote address titled “Africa’s New Frontier: Strategic Investment in a Dynamic Landscape” at the 2025 African Investment Showcase held at Bolivar Hall, Venezuela Embassy Cultural Centre in London. He described the gathering as a defining moment for Africa, urging leaders to embrace strategic repositioning not only in economic planning but also in ideological and civic outlook.

The NOA chief explained that Africa’s investment future must be measured beyond infrastructure and capital inflows. According to him, the true strength of the continent lies in the resilience of its institutions and the degree of public trust they command.

Highlighting Nigeria’s renewed efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Issa-Onilu pointed to the Nigerian Identity Project as a flagship initiative. The project, he said, is designed to redefine what it means to be Nigerian in the 21st century and to build a stronger sense of national consciousness among citizens.

The London event drew high-level participants, including the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Hon. Philip Davis, executives of NEXIM Bank, representatives of the Commonwealth Secretariat, international arbitration bodies, and stakeholders from the UK, Japan, and the Caribbean.

Issa-Onilu concluded that national progress cannot rest on economic growth alone, insisting that Nigeria’s transformation will depend on a citizenry that embraces values, discipline, and responsibility as guiding principles for sustainable development.
