The coach of the England women’s national team, Sarina Wiegman, has proposed that Afrobeats musician Burna Boy should join her in a dance to celebrate her being named Coach of the Year (Women) at the 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony in Paris.
Wiegman, who guided the Lionesses to their first major international trophy abroad with their Euro 2025 victory in Switzerland, took the opportunity during her acceptance speech to express gratitude to her players, staff, and family, before adding a playful remark.
“Let’s celebrate our achievements, and if Burna Boy is here, perhaps we could do a little dancing as well,” she said, eliciting applause from the audience.

Burna Boy quickly replied on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Haha, I’m in for it Sarina! Huge congratulations to you and the team, Lionesses.”
This exchange has excited fans online, bringing back memories of Wiegman’s fondness for the Nigerian artist.
It’s worth noting that Wiegman received a delightful surprise during the Lionesses’ celebratory homecoming parade at Buckingham Palace after their Euro victory, when Burna Boy performed live, a moment that thrilled her, as she has frequently referred to him as her favorite artist.
