The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 19 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys, in Lapai, Niger State. The operation was carried out by operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate on Friday, September 19, 2025, following credible intelligence reports.
According to the EFCC, the suspects include 18 men and one woman, all allegedly involved in cybercrime activities within the Lapai Local Government Area. Items recovered from them during the raid include a Honda Civic car, 33 mobile phones, five laptops, a generator, three Bluetooth speakers, a white calabash, and other materials believed to be used for ritual practices.

The commission confirmed that the arrested suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
This latest crackdown adds to the EFCC’s ongoing fight against cybercrime in Nigeria, as the agency intensifies its operations to curb online fraud and protect unsuspecting victims.
