The Federal Government has announced its full backing for the Motherland 2025 Festival, a landmark cultural event aimed at reconnecting Nigerians in the diaspora with their homeland. The initiative, led by the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy in partnership with the festival’s organizers, officially kicked off in Atlanta, USA, during the Africon Conference.

The Motherland roadshow is a global campaign that will tour Atlanta, Houston, New York, Washington DC, and London before culminating in Abuja and Lagos in December 2025. The festival promises to showcase Nigeria’s rich creativity, innovation, and investment potential, while strengthening ties between Nigerians at home and abroad.

At each stop, the team will host panel discussions, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities designed to deepen cultural and economic connections. In Atlanta, founding members Chidinma Nwankwo and Sandra Oboh led a high-profile engagement with diaspora communities, alongside Afrobeats superstar D’banj, who shared insights on his career and the global rise of the genre.

Nigeria’s Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musawa, is expected to deliver a keynote address urging Nigerians abroad to actively reconnect with their roots and participate in the Motherland Festival. The roadshow launch also featured exclusive events attended by Nigerian creatives such as YouTube personality Jackie Asamoah and travel videographer Tayo Aina, further amplifying Nigeria’s creative voice on the global stage.

Co-founder Chidinma Nwankwo described the project as more than a festival, calling it a bridge between Nigerians worldwide. “Motherland is about building connections and creating impact. We are bringing Nigerians together across continents to strengthen cultural bonds while driving business and investment opportunities. This is an open invitation to come home,” she said.

The Motherland 2025 Festival will run from December 15 to 21 in Abuja and Lagos, featuring music, fashion, sports, food, film, and dedicated sessions on diaspora investment and cross-border partnerships. It is set to be one of the biggest celebrations of Nigerian culture in history, uniting millions across the globe under one banner of heritage and progress.
