The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old woman suspected of smuggling ammunition to criminal gangs in Katsina State. The arrest took place in the Azuba community of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, during a late-night sting operation on Wednesday.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect who hails from Funtua in Katsina was intercepted while attempting to transport 481 rounds of live ammunition through the Keana and Doma axis. Intelligence reports had tipped off the authorities about her movements, prompting swift action.
Acting on the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit was deployed to track and apprehend the suspect. The police successfully recovered 400 rounds of one type of ammunition and an additional 81 rounds of another, believed to be headed for use by violent criminal groups.

The suspect is now in custody and undergoing intense interrogation as investigators dig deeper into a potentially larger arms-smuggling network linked to terrorism and organized crime across state lines.

SP Nansel urged the public to remain vigilant and continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity, emphasizing that collective community effort is vital in securing lives and property.
