2027 Presidency: North will decide Nigeria’s future in 6 months – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed declares

A powerful political storm is brewing as Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has declared that the North will determine its stance on the 2027 presidential election within the next six months—sending a clear warning to all political gladiators eyeing Aso Rock.

In a no-holds-barred video interview conducted in Hausa language, Baba-Ahmed, flanked by former NHIS Executive Secretary Usman Yusuf, delivered a strong message: no politician can win Nigeria’s presidency in 2027 without the backing of the North. He emphasized that the region is done playing second fiddle and will now chart its own political path based on competence, not deception.

“We are tired of empty promises. We want a leader who understands and solves our problems. After enduring eight years under Buhari and still crying under the current government, it’s clear we must take our destiny into our own hands,” Baba-Ahmed declared.

He warned politicians to steer clear of identity politics, saying the North would no longer fall for religious or ethnic manipulation. “That era is over. We want solutions, not sentiments,” he added.

Reflecting on the devastating impact of Boko Haram, which he said united Northerners regardless of tribe or religion, Baba-Ahmed questioned the sincerity of those who now seek their votes without offering real solutions. “Before Buhari, Boko Haram was bombing mosques, churches, even Abuja and Lagos. We came together then—why should we now be divided by selfish politicians?” he queried.

With fiery conviction, he also warned of dire consequences if the North continues to be marginalized. “If they’re planning to rig the election, they should think twice. The North is watching—our elders, our youth, and our groups. Enough is enough.”

As Nigeria inches closer to 2027, Baba-Ahmed’s words have set the tone for what could be the most fiercely contested presidential race in recent history. For now, all eyes are on the North—ready to rewrite the narrative and choose a leader based on truth, capacity, and justice.

This declaration has sparked massive reactions across the political space, fueling debates over power rotation, equity, and the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
