Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Christian leaders in the state to extend their support and prayers to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) requires him to work for the success of the party and its candidates.
Oborevwori made the appeal on Wednesday when the Executive Committee of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State, led by its Chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, paid him a special prayer visit at Government House, Asaba.

The governor said his victory in the 2023 governorship election was made possible by God’s grace and the prayers of Christian leaders, urging them to continue praying for Nigeria, President Tinubu and the Delta State Government.
He said the 2027 elections should not be viewed only through political calculations, stressing that divine direction remained important in determining leadership outcomes.
“I am an APC man. I must work for my President and I must work for my candidates. I will continue to speak for them,” Oborevwori said.
The governor appealed to religious leaders and the Christian community to show President Tinubu the same goodwill and support they have extended to his administration.
“If you love me and you believe I am doing well as Governor, extend that love to Mr President and to all my candidates. That is the truth,” he said.
Oborevwori Praises Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
The Delta governor called on Christian leaders to intensify prayers for President Tinubu, particularly for wisdom, strength, good health and guidance as his administration implements economic reforms.
He said the reforms had improved the financial capacity of state and local governments, allowing them to undertake more developmental projects.
According to him, local governments that previously struggled to pay salaries and execute projects can now invest in infrastructure and public services.
“Before now, to pay salaries was a problem. To construct roads was a problem. Councils could not even execute projects. But now, local governments can do projects because the reforms are working,” he said.
Oborevwori said his administration had remained focused on delivering infrastructure projects and improving the welfare of residents through the MORE Agenda.
Governor Urges Churches to Participate in Politics
The governor also encouraged Christians to take responsible interest in political affairs, noting that government decisions affect every aspect of society.
He said religious institutions should continue to pray for peace, stability and good governance while contributing positively to the political process.

“Pray for Mr President, pray for the state. Pray for good governance. Pray for peace and unity. I know God will continue to lead us,” he said.
PFN Commends Oborevwori’s Administration
Earlier, Bishop Abos Willie prayed for the governor, his administration, Delta State and Nigeria, seeking divine wisdom, protection and continued progress.
The PFN chairman commended Oborevwori for what he described as achievements in infrastructure development, peace and governance across the state.
Willie assured the governor that the Christian body would continue praying for his administration and the forthcoming elections, adding that prayer centres would be established across Delta State to promote peaceful campaigns and a violence-free electoral process.
He said the PFN was impressed by the governor’s ability to manage sensitive situations and maintain peace in the state.
The PFN chairman disclosed that the organisation had strengthened its structures across Delta, with about 4,150 ward officers and coordinators expected to be deployed across the state.
He added that the fellowship had established a College of Theology with over 300 students and was completing a hatchery project aimed at supporting economic empowerment.
Bishop Willie also praised the governor for organising the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, describing it as an initiative capable of attracting investments and promoting economic growth.
