The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated more than 62 executives, Board of Trustees members and liaison officers of the Polling Unit Mobilisation for FON (PUM), a support group campaigning for Governor Francis Nwifuru’s re-election in 2027. The ceremony was held at Re-Meritona Hotels and Suites in Abakaliki.

Ebonyi APC Begins 2027 Grassroots Mobilisation
Speaking through Alhaji Ernest Nweze, APC South-East Zonal Chairman for Ebonyi South, State Chairman Stanley Okoro Emegha said the party was confident of retaining the Ebonyi State Government House in 2027.
Emegha, represented at the event by Nweze, said there would be “no vacancy” in the Government House after the election. Nweze urged party members and residents to disregard what he described as efforts by political opponents to undermine the Nwifuru administration.
Nweze also dismissed speculation about possible governorship ambitions from Ebonyi South, attributing some political activity in the zone to what he called “content creators.” These remarks reflect the speakers’ political positions ahead of the election.
PUM Outlines Polling-Unit Strategy
State coordinator Ogbuefi Zaccheaus Ifeuwabundidi said PUM intends to establish structures in every polling unit, with at least 10 mobilisation units assigned to each. He said the group planned door-to-door, farm-to-farm, market-to-market and church-based engagement.
Ifeuwabundidi said PUM would make what it considers the achievements of Nwifuru’s administration a central part of its campaign message. He described the group’s support for the governor’s re-election as being based on “verifiable performance and sterling leadership” under the People’s Charter of Needs.
The coordinator also announced directorates for strategy and planning, security, inter-party affairs, medical services, media and publicity, contact and mobilisation, and monitoring and evaluation.
Zoning Debate and Campaign Claims
Addressing discussion of zoning and possible candidates from Ebonyi South, Ifeuwabundidi said Nwifuru should be allowed to complete two terms. His position represents PUM’s stated support for the governor as debate over the 2027 governorship contest continues.
Onicha Constituency lawmaker Ifeanyi Ogba called for unity among APC members and said the administration’s record would feature in the party’s campaign. He cited scholarship programmes and more than 675 kilometres of road construction as achievements he said could influence voters. The figure and assessment are attributable to Ogba.

PUM Promises Wider Voter Mobilisation
Liaison Officer Godwin Aliuna said PUM had the capacity to mobilise support across communities and polling units in the state. The group says it will continue its outreach in support of Nwifuru ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
