The Minister of Transport, Sai’du Alkali, has declared that the federal government has completed around 135 road projects in the north.
He said this information during an event in Kaduna focused on how the government can better connect with citizens.
Alkali disclosed this during his presentation on infrastructure at the two-day interactive session on government-citizens’ engagement on Wednesday in Kaduna.
The minister mentioned that there are also 216 road construction projects currently underway in the north.
In addition to the completed projects, he noted that about 312 road maintenance projects have been finished, with 50 more still in progress.
He highlighted that several important projects are being developed across various states, such as major highways connecting different regions, including the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the minister said 14 road projects have been completed and inaugurated.
Other finished projects he listed include improvements to the water supply in Abuja, the construction and repair of many schools, and the opening of three new bus terminals.
Alkali also mentioned that President Bola Tinubu has approved the building of large bus terminals in every geopolitical zone across the country.
Furthermore, he explained that the government has secured funding for a major transportation route from Aba to Maiduguri, crossing several states.
Additionally, work has been done to rehabilitate the old Lagos-Kano railway system, which connects the port in Apapa to the Kano Inland Dry Port.
