Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors Forum, Babagana Umara Zulum, on wednesday led a delegation of Governors from the North East geopolitical zone to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The high-level meeting focused on accelerating critical infrastructure and energy projects in the region, with Governor Zulum urging President Tinubu to prioritize the completion of 17 major road projects and resume oil exploration activities at the Kolmani and Lake Chad frontier basins.
The delegation included Governors Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Bala Muhammad (Bauchi), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba).
Addressing the president, Zulum highlighted the dire need for improved connectivity and economic revitalization through strategic infrastructure. He presented a list of key road and railway projects across the region that require urgent federal intervention.
The roads as noticed by The Trumpet, include, Kano-Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt-Jos-Bauchi-Maiduguri Railway Line, Bama-Mubi-Yola Road, Wukari-Jalingo-Yola Road, Duguri-Mansur Road (NNPC Project), Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Damaturu Road, Damaturu-Geidam Road.
Others are, Bauchi-Ningi-Nasaru-Babaldo Road, Gombe-Potiskum Road, Damaturu-Biu Road, Alkaleri-Futuk Road, Maiduguri-Damboa-Yola Road, Gombe-Dukku-Darazo Road, Biu-Gombe Road, Ibi-Shamdam Road, Maiduguri-Monguno-Baga Road, and Maiduguri-Ngala-Bama-Banki Road
Governor Zulum expressed appreciation for the president’s commitment to security and stability in the region, noting the continuity of anti-insurgency initiatives introduced by the previous administration.

He further pledged the support of the North East governors to align with Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, particularly in enhancing food security through improved manpower training and deployment of technology in agriculture.
“We are fully aligning with Mr. President’s initiative of manpower development and the deployment of technology, to reverse insecurity trends and boost agricultural production in our region,” Zulum stated.
He reaffirmed the collective support of the North East governors, saying, “Mr. President, we hold you in high esteem and are committed to partnering with you in delivering good governance and leaving lasting legacies for our country.”
In response, President Tinubu assured the governors of his administration’s readiness to address the infrastructural and developmental challenges facing the North East.
He acknowledged the region’s unique needs and pledged to work closely with the Governors to foster sustainable growth and security.
