Zulum flags off construction of 500 houses to resettle displaced families

Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, of Borno state,has flagged off the construction of 500 housing units in Wala town, located in Gwoza local government Council of the state.

The initiative,as gathered by The Trumpet, is aimed at providing the much-needed shelter to families displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency.

Laying the foundation, Zulum emphasized that the housing estate would include essential infrastructure such as a hospital, school, and water points.

He noted that the project is part of his administration’s effort to fulfill election promises to resettle displaced communities.

“In fulfillment of our electioneering campaign promise to resettle communities displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency, we are flagging off the construction of 500 houses through our stabilization facility,” Zulum stated.

He urged the contractors handling the project to ensure high-quality work, warning that substandard work would not be tolerated.

Our state correspondent observed that most of the contractors involved are from the Gwoza local government council, which The Trumpet learnt is part of a broader effort to support local businesses and stimulate the grassroots economy.

“I want to see quality work. Let me be clear: we will not condone anything less than good work,” Zulum added.

During the foundation-laying ceremony on Wednesday, Governor Zulum emphasized that the housing estate would include essential infrastructure such as a hospital, school, and water points. He noted that this project is part of his administration’s effort to fulfill election promises to resettle displaced communities.

“In fulfillment of our electioneering campaign promise to resettle communities displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency, we are flagging off the construction of 500 houses through our stabilization facility,” Zulum stated.

The governor urged contractors to ensure high-quality work, warning that substandard work would not be tolerated. Most of the contractors involved are from the Gwoza Local Government Area, part of a broader effort to support local businesses and stimulate the grassroots economy.

“I want to see quality work. Let me be clear: we will not condone anything less than good work,” Zulum added.

In another development, the governor was also observed to have approved a N50 million empowerment package for 1,000 women farmers across the state.

Each beneficiary will receive N50,000 to support them in regaining their livelihoods. Zulum stated.
