Borno State Government has approved the payment of leave grants and outstanding gratuities for Local Government Staff.
The approval, as gathered by The Trumpet, was granted by the state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
This was disclosed yesterday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirates Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele, While briefing the media practitioners in the state.
The governor, according to him, has approved 700 million naira for the payment of local government staff’s leave grant for the year 2022.
Aside from the foregoing, the governor, he said, has as well approved the payment of gratuities to all 27 Local Government Areas.

The commissioner who said local government heads have been directed to monitor and supervise the payment and to ensure there is no diversion of the money whatsoever, said all the 27 local governments are beneficiaries of the leave grants.
He also noted that the ministry for local government will not be happy if the money is diverted for any purpose and they will be sanctioned for any defaulter of the payment.
The commissioner who went ahead beckoned to them to reciprocate the governor’s gesture, solicited for their support and understanding to move the state forward.
