Zamfara State has dismissed allegations stating that a Christian convert named Zainab is scheduled for trial at the Sharia Court on Friday, due to her faith transition.
A statement from the spokesperson to Governor Sulaiman Idris disclosed that the information is entirely inaccurate and is derived from social media channels aimed at attracting attention.
The statement further clarified that it has been confirmed beyond doubt that such a case does not exist within any Shari’ah Court in Zamfara State.
“The Zamfara State Government has been alerted to false information circulating concerning a 22-year-old named Miss Zainab Muhamadu, claimed to be sentenced to death for embracing Christianity.
“We want to make it clear that this is the work of individuals opposed to harmony, whose goal is to incite unrest where it doesn’t exist.
“This fabricated news, propagated on social media by an online outlet known for sharing unverified reports and misinformation, is merely a failed effort to disturb tranquility.
“The Zamfara State Government has promptly convened all relevant authorities and security bodies to confirm the truth of the claims, which were ultimately shown to be a clear falsehood fabricated by Sahara Reporters.
“To maintain transparency and certainty, the state government has consulted the Grand Khadi of the Zamfara Sharia Court of Appeal about any similar cases.
“He confirmed that no such case has ever been presented in any Shari’a court in Zamfara State.
