Traditional rulers across Yobe State have expressed strong support for Governor Mai Mala Buni’s renewed drive to strengthen community security and curb the rising wave of criminal activities across the state.

The endorsement came from the emirs of Fika, Gudi, Potiskum, and Fune during a visit by members of the state’s special committee on stabilization of security situation a body recently constituted by Gov. Buni to engage traditional institutions in combating insecurity.

Led by the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Baba Gana Kyari, the committee is touring all the 14 emirate councils to sensitize traditional rulers on proactive strategies for crime prevention and peacebuilding at the grassroots.

During the latest phase of the tour, which covered the Zone B Senatorial District on Sunday, the royal fathers hailed the governor’s commitment to protecting lives and property, describing the initiative as “timely and visionary.”

“Governor Buni has once again demonstrated strong leadership and genuine concern for the safety of our people,” one of the emirs stated.

“We assure him of our total support and cooperation to ensure this initiative succeeds.”
Kyari noted that the committee has so far visited 13 out of the 14 emirate councils, gathering valuable insights and recommendations from community leaders to enhance security coordination across the state.

He said the findings will form part of a comprehensive report to be presented to the governor, containing actionable steps to consolidate peace and stability throughout the state.

“This initiative reflects Governor Buni’s inclusive approach to governance — one that acknowledges the critical role traditional rulers play in sustaining peace and security,” Kyari added.
