Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed that the security of lives and property remains the top priority of his administration.
The governor made the declaration in Damaturu during the official commissioning and distribution of 47 four-wheel drive vehicles and 50 motorcycles to security agencies operating across the state.
Governor Buni lauded the collaborative efforts of the Federal Government and security agencies in maintaining peace in Yobe, noting that the latest gesture is part of broader strategies to enhance security logistics and efficiency.
“Let me seize this opportunity to appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the continued support towards ensuring peace and security in Yobe State,” Buni said.
He also extended gratitude to the various security operatives, vigilante groups, and hunters for their resilience and dedication to safeguarding communities across the state.
Speaking on the purpose of the vehicle distribution, the governor emphasized that it was aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of security agencies.
“The purpose of today’s occasion is to step up the government’s efforts towards supporting security agencies to enable them to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently,” he stated.

As part of the distribution, each Divisional Police Officer (DPO) across the 17 Local Government Areas received one vehicle. Additional vehicles were allocated to the State Police Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Other beneficiaries include the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), each of which received one vehicle.
In a similar move, the 17 local government chairmen also received a vehicle each to bolster security oversight in their respective areas. The 50 motorcycles distributed will be shared across the various agencies to support mobility and surveillance, particularly in hard-to-reach locations.
Governor Buni directed the local government chairmen to take responsibility for the maintenance of police vehicles within their jurisdictions to ensure continued operational readiness.
Earlier in his remarks, the Special Adviser to the governor on Security Affairs, Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), commended the governor’s unwavering support to security agencies, noting that the state government has consistently provided logistics, accommodation, and other forms of assistance to enhance security operations.
He assured that the distributed vehicles would be put to judicious use in line with the state’s security objectives.
