The Yobe State Government has dismissed reports claiming that Boko Haram issued an eviction notice to residents of Gujba Local Government Area, calling such claims false and misleading.
Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), the Special Adviser on Security Matters, made the clarification following a state security council meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Alhaji Idi Gubana in Damaturu. He reassured the public that there is no credible intelligence indicating any such threat from the terrorist group and urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear. The government, he emphasized, remains fully committed to protecting all communities in collaboration with security forces.

Newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Osun, also reaffirmed the dedication of security agencies to maintaining peace and stability, particularly as the state prepares for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. He advised parents to be vigilant and discourage their children from engaging in reckless behavior, stressing that security measures have been reinforced to ensure a peaceful holiday period.
The state security council also acknowledged the critical role of traditional rulers and community leaders in fostering conflict resolution and maintaining peace. Their contributions, officials noted, have been instrumental in strengthening security efforts across the state.
With the government’s firm stance and reinforced security strategies, Yobe residents can remain assured that their safety is a top priority.
