Yobe State Deputy Governor, Idi Gubana has donated motorcycles to local vigilante groups and the Agro-Rangers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The donation, aimed at boosting security in rural areas, was announced on Monday in Damaturu following a high-stakes security council meeting.
The meeting was to address the ongoing clashes affecting farming communities across Yobe and was focused on finding immediate solutions to reduce tensions and safeguard lives. Speaking on behalf of the state government, Commissioner of Police Garba Ahmed stated that local government chairmen had been instructed to strengthen partnerships with security agencies and other stakeholders in a united effort to curb the violence.
“Many local government areas in Yobe State, predominantly farming communities, have suffered from these clashes, with tragic loss of life in some cases,” Ahmed emphasized.
