The Kano State Commissioner for Special Duties, Nasiru Sule Garo, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, becoming the fifth member of the state executive council to step down amid the ongoing political realignment in the state.
Garo’s resignation was conveyed in a formal letter addressed to Governor Abba Yusuf through the secretary to the state government.
In the letter, he announced his decision to vacate office with immediate effect.
“This decision has been made after careful thought and consideration,” Garo stated, expressing gratitude to the governor for the trust and opportunity to serve.
He described his tenure as an honour and privilege, noting that serving the people of Kano State afforded him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state and work with dedicated colleagues.

The former commissioner also pledged his readiness to ensure a smooth transition, assuring the government of his availability to assist with any handover processes required to maintain continuity in the ministry.
“I wish Kano State continued progress and success in the future,” he added.
Garo’s resignation comes against the backdrop of heightened political developments following the announcement of Gov. Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His exit brings to five the number of commissioners who have resigned since the governor’s move to the APC.
