The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has officially transferred his responsibilities to May Agbamuche, who will serve as the acting chairman of the electoral commission.
Prof. Yakubu has requested the backing of the commission’s commissioners and directors for Agbamuche, pending the appointment of a permanent chairman.
Agbamuche is the longest-serving national commissioner within the electoral body.

Prof. Yakubu made this announcement on Tuesday during a meeting with resident electoral commissioners at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
He urged the commissioners and directors to support Agbamuche until a new chairman is appointed.
