Wolves coach Vitor Pereira has lauded Nigerian Super Eagles sensation Tolu Arokodare, following their win against Everton in the Carabao Cup.
The Super Eagles and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Tolu Arokodare netted his first goal for the club in their 2-0 Carabao Cup victory against Everton.
The 24-year-old had started consecutive matches for Vitor Pereira’s team against Newcastle United and Leeds United, managing only one shot on target over 156 minutes of play.
He came off the bench in the 68th minute at Molineux and scored 20 minutes later, connecting with a pass from Joao Gomes and deftly lifting the ball over Everton’s Mark Travers to secure Wolves’ second goal of the evening.
Wolves coach Vitor Pereira made nine changes to his lineup from the previous match against Leeds for the game against Everton.
The three-time English Premier League champions have yet to win in the league this season, and the Portuguese manager is optimistic that the win against the Merseyside team will instill confidence in his squad.
“It was great to see the players playing with confidence, showcasing good football, applying pressure, controlling the game, and demonstrating character and team spirit,” the 57-year-old stated in comments shared on the club’s official website.
“It shows that we can achieve this because the players possess quality. We can build a stronger team and earn points in the league.
“A positive result can change everything. It can uplift the team’s spirit and transform the atmosphere.

“I’ve really missed seeing my players and supporters smile, and today we have reasons to celebrate.”
The former FC Porto coach expressed his happiness that his summer signing Arokodare scored, which he believes will help boost the player’s confidence, but he also emphasized the need for Arokodare to improve his physical fitness.
“When we expect a powerful shot on goal, it’s because he believes in himself.
“Of course, he is not in peak physical shape. Larsen worked hard for the team today, and after Tolu came on, he contributed significantly. This is the kind of spirit I want to see.
“Tolu entered the game at a time when we didn’t have Jorgen available. The plan wasn’t for him to play the full 90 minutes; it was to give him time to adjust and gain match experience.
“He needs to put in the effort to improve his fitness, and he will be a valuable asset for us,” said the two-time Primeira Liga winner after Arokodare scored his first goal for the club.
