Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to honour athletes who recently excelled in various sports events while representing the FCT.
A statement from the FCT Sports Department, said Wike will hold a reception on Thursday to recognize the athletes who participated in the 2022 National Sports Festival, as well as the 7th and 8th National Youth Games.
The statement said the recognition of the sportsmen and women is a way to appreciate the athletes for their dedication, sacrifices, and the pride they have brought to the territory.

“We are committed to the development of sports in the FCT, and we will continue to create the enabling environment for sports to thrive.
“This is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s focus to engage youths to help discover their potentials and empower them to be better,” the statement quoted the minister as saying.
