The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has unveiled a 19-day schedule for the commissioning of projects by President Bola Tinubu to mark his second year in office.
The initiative, announced during the 14th FCTA Executive Committee meeting chaired by Wike, will kick off on June 10, 2025, according to a statement by Lere Olayinka, the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media.
The extensive list of completed and renovated projects to be commissioned include, the International Conference Centre, bus terminals in Kugbo and Mabushi, the Apo-Wassa Road, N16 Interchange and connecting roads from Maitama through Katampe to Jahi, and the inner Northern Expressway (Ring Road 3 – Idu to Kubwa Road)
Others are CN8 from N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Court of Appeal, N20 flyover at Onnex, Kubwa Road, Life Junction to Ring Road III, Kabusa-Takushara and Kabusa-Ketti access roads, Giri District access road, 15km road from A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Road) to Pai in Kwali Area Council, Ushafa, War College, and Army Checkpoint Roads in Bwari Area Council.
These projects, spread across various districts and area councils of the FCT, are expected to significantly boost connectivity, ease of transportation, and socio-economic development within the capital city.

In a related development, the FCT Executive Committee has also approved the upgrade of streetlights on the 14-kilometer Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway (Ring Road I).
The acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Mr. Richard Dauda, said the existing lighting system, installed around 2005–2006, has become obsolete.
“The upgrade is necessary as many parts of the expressway remain dark at night due to outdated fixtures,” Dauda said.
“We will be deploying a hybrid street lighting system to enhance road safety and night-time visibility.”
The lighting upgrade is one of seven key infrastructure proposals approved during the committee meeting.
“With these developments, the FCTA under Wike’s leadership continues to demonstrate a robust commitment to modernizing infrastructure, ensuring safety, and improving the quality of life for Abuja residents,” the statement added.
