Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike has announced that more than 60 public schools across Abuja have been fully renovated and furnished under the current administration. This revelation came during a project inspection tour on Friday across Gwagwalada and Kwali Area Councils.
Wike emphasized that his administration’s commitment extends far beyond road construction, with major investments also being channeled into critical sectors like education and healthcare. He assured residents that no sector would be neglected, promising balanced development throughout the territory.
“We have done a lot of work in schools. The schools we have renovated and furnished are more than 60 so far,” the minister stated. “No sector would be left abandoned, every sector will be focused on.”
While education and health have received significant attention, Wike reiterated that road infrastructure remains the foundation of any serious development effort.
According to him, no school, hospital, or even farm can function effectively in the absence of accessible roads.

“Good road network is what brings development,” Wike stressed. “When there are no roads, which school will you go to? Which hospital will you go to? If you’re talking about agriculture, how will you go and harvest your produce when there is no road?”
He cited the A2 to Pai road project as a game-changer for rural farming communities, noting that it now connects them to city markets where they can sell their produce and improve their livelihoods. The minister also pointed out that better roads contribute to enhanced security by enabling swift response to criminal activity.
“When there’s no road to chase offenders, it becomes a problem,” Wike noted. “But when you see a road like this with streetlights, you will think twice before committing any crime.”
This latest development underlines the FCT Administration’s aggressive drive to modernize Abuja’s infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its residents. The transformation of over 60 schools is seen as a major win for public education, while the expansion of road networks is expected to boost economic activity and safety across the territory.
